Tomb 20 — The secret of my bowl and farewell

The Dama de Galera’s bowl reveals inner channels and their possible ceremonial use. One last stop to discover the figure’s secret.
Overview of Tomb 20 and its surroundings

CHALLENGE INTRODUCTION: You’ve already discovered how the light might have entered this chamber. Now imagine that it shines on me… and take a look at the bowl I’m holding. What do you think it was used for? Researchers think I may have been used in ceremonies to offer a liquid to a divinity. These offerings are called libations. Perhaps they were connected with fertility: with the hope that the earth would bear fruit and life would continue.

We don’t know exactly what those ceremonies were like, but I have a clue inside me: little channels through which a liquid could flow! Will you help me discover its route? If we pour the liquid through the opening in my head, where will it come out? Choose its route and see what happens. IF THE ORDER IS INCORRECT: Try again. Remember: the liquid begins its journey in my head.

WHEN YOU GET IT RIGHT: That’s it! Head, chest and bowl. It seems like magic, but it’s the ingenuity of the people who made me. FAREWELL: You’ve found me! You did it, explorers! You followed my clues all the way here, to the place where I remained hidden for so many centuries. When we began, perhaps all you saw was a small stone figure. Now you know the secret of my bowl.

Before you leave, take one last look at this place. This is where they found me. And now, when someone asks you about the Dama de Galera, you’ll be able to say: “We followed her clues. And we have a story to tell you!”
